Catching Up, Giving Thanks, and Pet Blogging

Just a quick post to let you know that Ruby and I are alive and well!

I’m sorry we haven’t been active on the blog or social media (ugh, in months), but rest assured Ruby continues to live her best life and so do I. In fact, Ruby just celebrated her sixth anniversary with our family!

This summer Ruby spent time in Wisconsin where she hiked through several state parks, enjoyed a few doggie ice cream cones, slept in a tent, attended her first drive-in movie, went for a bike ride (see photo below), and enjoyed a sunset cruise on Lake Michigan. Now that fall has arrived, she’s busy sorting through her sweater collection in preparation for winter in Chicago. She also continues to serve as peacemaker between Rosie and Teddy while adjusting to life with an almost teenager, which can sometimes be confusing and topsy-turvy.

What have I been doing? Mostly writing. I’m still working on my book as well as some shorter essays and of course, contract writing to pay the bills. I work at home on my own schedule with Ruby by my side. Juggling everything is challenging sometimes, but ultimately things have worked out pretty well for both of us! Funny enough, I have less free time now than when I was working full time – hence my lack of posting!

With Thanksgiving a few days away, Ruby and I send our  warmest holiday greetings and heartfelt thanks to everyone who has read, shared, or commented on our posts over the years. This little passion project blog has changed our lives in all sorts of wonderful ways and we are so grateful to all who have supported us along the way!

My Rescued Life (and before that The Daily Pip) has always been about having fun, helping homeless pets, and celebrating the human-animal connection. And while the blog itself has never been about making money, it has definitely opened doors, led to new opportunities, and even a midlife career change.

I learned about blogging and related opportunities from other bloggers. Two of my favorite bloggers, teachers and now dear friends, Carol Bryant and Maggie Marton have recently written a book sharing their experience and wealth of knowledge about the world of pet blogging.  Whether you want to turn your blog into a business, find more ways to help animals in need, or just have fun, Pet Blogging for Love & Money is the ultimate guide to grow your pet blog or social media channels like a pro. This comprehensive guide shares all the trade secrets of creating a pet-centric online brand.

Pet Blogging for Love and Money

Pet Blogging for Love & Money is all about doing what you love, making a difference and/or money (if that’s your goal). Each of the 15 chapters is packed full of practical tips and actionable advice you can implement right away. Plus, each chapter comes with bonus content to guide you to success: worksheets, checklists, plans, templates, and more. Gain inspiration from successful bloggers and social superstars that illustrate the principles you will learn in this book. I am excited and honored to be one of the bloggers featured in the book!

I am fortunate to serve with Carol and Maggie on the executive team of the Dog Writers Association of America and continue to learn new things from them all the time. Trust me, they know their stuff! Purchase a copy of Pet Blogging for Love & Money on Amazon for yourself or a pet blogging friend.

In other news, Teddy is still here and still driving Rosie crazy. Going forward, we will try to post once a month. Happy Thanksgiving!

My word, I too was starting to wonder if the Great Lake had swallowed you up! So very good to hear and see you both and to know that it is all to the good. Life has a habit of needing attention too – and blogging may be fun, but it can be time-consuming! Long may your different works be balanced and fruitful. Love and hugs and wags, YAM “aunty” xxx

I don’t want to say it has been a long time, but I didn’t recognize the blog name when it came up on the blog.! Yes, has a way of filling in the gaps. We are kind of going through the same thing.

So glad to hear you and Ruby are OK. And we are wishing you the best for the holidays!

We are happy things are going well for you. Since the end of BlogPaws, we have just been blogging mostly for fun. Mom’s business is busy and we don’t have a lot of time for figuring out how to make money blogging and writing which is a bummer as that would be our ultimate goal. For now, we are in it because we enjoy it. Happy Thanksgiving!

I’m glad to hear things are good … well, besides Rosie and Teddy … but Bear understands about annoying younger siblings. And before you assume his beef is with Ellie, you must remember that HE was an annoying younger sibling once so he KNOWS.

    Awww! Happy anniversary, Ruby!

Thank you so much for sharing the book and for sharing your experience with the community. I, for one, can’t wait to read your book. You’re such a gifted writer with so many wonderful stories to tell! I’ll be first in line to buy my copy! 🙂

Wonderful hearing from you again. We have also fallen to the wayside with Amber’s blog due to a very hectic work schedule. Amber and Max are doing fine. Unfortunately Jennie (our 15-year-old Jack Russell) has been diagnosed with stage 3 cancer with no treatment available to her. We are making her as comfortable as possible and so far she is doing ok and living her life normally. Every day we still have is a blessing. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a great 2020.

    Hugs

We love comments! Thank you!
