Love Can Be Review and Giveaway

Ruby and Teddy's Review of Love Can Be: A Literary Collection About Our Animals

Tell us the story of how we were rescued again?

Love Can Be: A Literary Collection About Our Animals

If you like stories about how our lives are intertwined with and enhanced by animals, you will definitely enjoy Love Can Be, a collection of essays and poems by 30 acclaimed writers, including Delia Ephron, Dean Koontz, Susan Orlean, Joyce Carol Oates, S.E. Hinton, Wayne Coyne (from the band the Flaming Lips), just to name a few.

Disclaimer: I was provided a copy of Love Can Be in exchange for an honest review. The opinions in this post are my own. This post also contains affiliate links. If you click through and make a purchase, I will receive a small commission and be very grateful. Thank you.

Love Can Be: A Literary Collection About Our Animals contains stories about dogs, cats, butterflies, turtles, horses, raccoons, bears, and even rhinos. From Kim Doner’s close encounter with a raccoon to Brandon Hobson’s love letter to his adopted dog Chaucer to Reyna Grande’s reflection on the migration of the monarch butterfly as well as her own similar journey from Mexico to the United States. These heartfelt, honest tales will make you smile, laugh, cry, dream, and feel gratitude for the feathered, furry, and scaly creatures all around us. You can read Love Can Be all at once or take your time reading one story at a time. Ruby and I have enjoyed reading a few stories each morning over breakfast.

Love Can Be was funded by The Kirkpatrick Foundation, which makes grants in the areas of arts, culture, education, animal wellbeing, environmental conservation, and historic preservation. All sales will be donated to six different animal organizations in Oklahoma. They include: the Bella Foundation, Enid Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Joan Kirkpatrick Animal Hospital, Wildlife In Need Group – In Tulsa, Tulsa Society for the Prevention of the Cruelty to Animals, and the Wildcare Foundation. In 2012, the foundation commenced a major initiative to make Oklahoma the safest and most humane place to be an animal by the year 2032. Love Can Be is dedicated to one of the foundation’s benefactors, Joan Kirkpatrick, who had a lifelong love of animals.

Love Can Be is pretty much the perfect holiday gift for all the animal lovers on your list! In fact, I enjoyed this book so much that I’m going to select one random winner from the comments below to receive a copy.

Mom would love to read all those stories. And at least one of the grands would really love it. She always tries to find a book about pets.
